Almost all my songs reflect experiences in life; some embellished with various techniques to dramatize, romanticize and create mystery. This song is about as literal  as I can get.

My early days past high school and the first family other than my own that I came to know intimately inspired this story. In later years when my brother heard this song he told me that one of our own grandfathers put him through the same drill. I did not know that (ha, ha).

I have many songs (click)

I have many songs and you can hear them, as well as, buy them (digital download only) across the Internet. I will keep links prominent on each post. Also each post will feature a song and  background on (or about) that song. When I feel a bit of nostalgia I may share that with a photo or two. Just about the earliest song I have written was called “My Love’s Face” Though “On the side of US Highway 1” may actually been the first though I cannot find a recording or notebook with it these days: The songs date back to 1963. The following version is about seven years old and the recording about five years old:
