A Christmas song like “White Christmas” a songwriters dream. Why? It generates income year after year and may be the better part of that income . . . and, the sense of accomplishment that comes with it. This is my best effort so far at Nostalgiaachieving this goal:
Seasons are a joy to me; I love four distinct seasons. The changes often inspire me into a creative mood; sometime that mood evolves from nostalgic impulses. This song “Autumn Wind” especially so since Fall is my favorite season. The song and lyrics convey my sentiment.
My romantic days in the beginning were very rocky relationships were short for the most part. What it took me a long time to discover was I was too serious too soon in my romantic adventures. When I ran off to Greenwich Village New York City and became active in the music and the art scene that finally all changed. No, I still resembled a brooding artist too often but in an artistic world that was tolerated if not expected.
This song “Evermore” is really a fantasy; definitely a fantasy for me at least.
Summer; summertime when we were young; so many memories; mostly care free. First romances. Friends. Exciting times. For me The Jersey Shore, New York’s Greenwich Village were significant. Running away from home immersed in an artistic time I call my “Paris Experience”; love and lovers; great opportunities lost and gained. All this before realities: Army, danger in decadence, vulnerabilities . . .
The hottest time of year evokes memories of tropical nights along the Mediterranean Sea on the Costa Brava in Spain.; so romantic so magical. Looking down from a cliff top cafe sipping gin and coke with good friends and a lover. Could be there or Baja California, Hawaii or an island in the Caribbean.
This is a song that has morphed through the years: from one guitar and a simple vocal I sang in New York City (Greenwich Village) to this more elaborate version . . . still it is a simple love song at heart. “My Loves Face”.
Hardly a songwriter cannot allow too much time to pass without having a nostalgic day; a romantic mood; relishing a fond memory. The warm Arizona nights triggered the mood that contributed to a project “Tropical Nights” when I visited several years back. Still evokes sweet images for me. Maybe the song will trigger some emotions in you as well.
