It is beyond Memorial Day weekend and droves of people will be coming down to the Jersey Shore to sunbath, swim, use their boats, go fishing and go crabbing among other shore activities. Years ago my family would gather once or twice during the summer and travel in a small caravan to Barnegat Bay in New Jersey for a day of crabbing for Blue Claw Crabs this song is the story.
Time to go Crabbing: Song Crabbing on the Barnegat Bay
There is nothing more exciting to a night owl than seeing the sunset and knowing there is an exciting night ahead. Friends and lovers meeting at a favorite club, dance venue or long anticipated concert. Even when I was heading for a gig the excitement often flooded my imagination.
Almost all my songs reflect experiences in life; some embellished with various techniques to dramatize, romanticize and create mystery. This song is about as literal as I can get.
My early days past high school and the first family other than my own that I came to know intimately inspired this story. In later years when my brother heard this song he told me that one of our own grandfathers put him through the same drill. I did not know that (ha, ha).
